Is a bug zapper safe around kids and pets?
The live grid sits behind guard bars, so fingers and noses can't reach it. Hang the lantern out of reach anyway, and keep it unplugged when you clean it.
How much electricity does it use?
The lamp is 15 W. A lantern running six hours a night uses roughly what a single LED floodlight left on would.
Can it hang in the rain?
Hang it under cover: an eave, a pergola roof, a porch ceiling. It's built for outdoor air, not a downpour.
Does it make noise?
A faint hum from the lamp and a sharp snap when an insect meets the grid. Bigger bugs, bigger snaps.
Will it get rid of every mosquito?
No lantern will. It thins them and handles most other night flyers well. Pair it with no standing water and a table fan.
How often do I change the bulb?
Around once per season of nightly use. Our replacement tubes come as a single or a two-pack.
